Keynotes & Special Events

Our founder, Nancie Payne, Ph.D. has spoken throughout the United States and Canada on a variety of subjects and is an extremely motivational and powerful speaker. She has written numerous articles and book chapters on facilitating learning, assessment of special needs, transition to employment, and workplace accommodations. Her published works include Adults who have Learning Disabilities: Transition from GED to Postsecondary Activities (2010); Job Accommodations, What Works and Why published in Learning Disabilities and Employment, edited by Paul J. Gerber and Dale S. Brown, Pro-ed 1997; Informal Assessment of Adults with LD published in Learning Disabilities, Literacy and Adult Education, edited by Susan A. Vogel and Stephen Reder, Brooks 1998; and The Impact of Learning Disabilities In The Workplace, in Successful Lifetime Management, edited by Teresa Citro, LDAM, 1999. In 2000 a Brookes publication entitled Meeting the Challenge of Learning Disabilities in Adulthood by Arlyn Roffman, Ph.D. features Ms. Payne’s personal insight about the impact of learning disabilities.

Nancie was diagnosed with hyperactivity as a child. She did not find out about her learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder until her late twenties. This knowledge has framed her passion for her work and belief that “everyone can learn.”

Nancie attended four high schools and is a former juvenile delinquent, spending five months in a youth center. Her background includes being a single teenage mother, unemployed and welfare dependent.

Nancie has a personal understanding of how a learner-centered approach leveraging the strengths of individual styles and abilities leads to success. She is inspired by all those who have walked before her including her brother, who "Taught us Intelligence and Ability come in many forms."
