The Payne Learning Needs Inventory is a field-developed, customer-centered questionnaire built on the premise that individuals know and can provide enough information about themselves, to allow the interviewer to informally assess how they might learn best in education, training or work situations as well as recreation and personal activities. Using a series of integrated questions about education, employment, life-based activities, family and health, the PLNI identifies strengths and attributes providing a progressive approach to learning and training.
The PLNI is currently being used in over 21 states and hundreds of programs. There are several versions of the PLNI, all structured similarly, but geared to meet the language and characteristics of the population being inventoried. There is also a questionnaire for English language learners.
